Anyone tried this, or had any experiences of this?

I've started taking 15mg of this, at night, to wean myself off the benzo's and Cipramil, and I feel damn weird. Kind of asleep, yet awake, like my limbs are half and hour behind my brain, and really shakey. Don't feel panicy or anything, just odd. :?

Remeron is an anti-depressive medicine only. If it was anxiety that got you started on cipramil and benzos, remeron alone will not be the medecine for you. Why not keep the remeron,x-over from cipramil to cipralex and slowly taper the beonzos? The extreme sedative effect of remeron and its ability go give you a hangover till tuesday will get much better in time.

I'm taking this on the advice of my doctor, as I told him I want to stop taking any medication of any kind. I haven't taken any benzo's for about three weeks, and I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms whatsoever, but he reckons that if I wanted to stop taking the Cipramil, it would be better to take a small dose of Remeron until I feel OK. If that makes sense. I felt OK beforehand!

I've cold-turkied both Cipramil and Benzo's in the past, without any problems, so I think I might just stop taking everything, full-stop. This stuff is damn weird.

Its some wierd stuff Martin. They usually give it to you to take at night, because its known for causing sleepiness. Its probably the "oddest" antidepressant made. They've tried marketing it to the young crowd, but that didnt work. Last I saw they were marketing it to seniors as an antidepressant sleep-aid. It also has some sort of weird side effect, like a chemical hepatitis or something. I could be thinking of another drug. I hardly have known anyone who takes it. Good luck. I also here that if your on it long enough, you begin reading CS Lewis and talking like Phil. But I think thats a good thing.

I replied to this b-4 but my phone rang and it messed it up somehow. Anyhoo it is weird but out of all things I've been on since 1989, it is the best for me. I think b/cuz it's "poop out" factor duznt happen as soon b-4 u have to up your dosage. Thats my experience anyway. Started on 15 mg..3 yrs. Went to 22.5 couple yrs. On 30 past couple yrs. now as of just 2days' doc visit I have an Rx for 45mg. So it is an oddball--not an SSRI or an old Tricyclic--it's just some other thing. Works for me though. Good luck getting off everything if you can do it. I say thems that can, hell, go for it!

Hi martin. I have been taking remeron for the past couple of years now. Works well on my depression. My doctor said it is also a major tranquilizer. When i take it i get extremely sleepy to the point where i can hardley move, so i only take it at night. I wake up feeling refreshed so it's good. I get no other side effects.

Thanks for your replies chaps. Like you all say, it is pretty damn tranquilizing, which isn't a good thing when you've got to be up at 5:30am for work. God knows why my doctor prescribed it. In to the bin with it.

Incidently - Homeskooled, I'm reading "L'Assommoir" at the moment, and there is a character in it that, if it were put on stage, that you would be perfect for you. Three guesses.

Martin,
Nana! You think I'd be perfect for the part of Nana, right? Of course, then we'd have to get you to play her husband. Sorry, that was a bit cruel. Just kidding. I've never read the series. Which books have you read in it? Supposedly, they're classics.

Peace

Am I that transparent ?

Yes, it was Nana. :( You got it first guess, so you win a small prize. Unfortunately I'll be playing Lantier, as he matches my personality profile of a scheming, drunken, greedy womaniser, so we won't have many scenes together. With a delicious sprinkling of irony though, we do have a scene together where I clip you around your ear at your consecration, because you got your dress dirty.
