My pdoc has decided to change my medication to 10 mg Abilify (Aripiprazole) from sulpiride. Before I start taking these tablets I was wondering what others thought of this med?

Thanks in advance.

I've been on Abilify for about 5 months. In the beginning I felt really strange and was very restless. It didn't help on the DP/anxiety, actually it feels like it became worse. I still have those symptoms. On the posititve side, it gave me more energy and made me more comfortable around other people. I also suffer from paranoid schizofrenia, or so I'm told.

I believe it is also used for bipolar disorder. A lot of pdoc will "suggest" to you that you have schizophrenia for one reason or another perhaps to help with adherence of the medication. I am also diagnosed with schizophrenia if that helps. Was you on any other drug beforehand?

I was on 5 mg of Abilify. It did wonders for me (lowering DR and anxiety) but stopped working after two months. I continued it for some time afterwards. I tapered off of it and it was not easy for me, even though the dosage was low. A few uncomfortable side effects.

about 2 weeks ago i started on abilify then stopped after a week because the anxiety symptoms were frightening. i couldnt stop moving my limbs.. i couldnt sleep because i was literally doing bicycles in bed. i had major butterfly belly and ants in the pants and things crawling under my skin. it got to the point where i thought i might have to go to the hospital. im not on it anymore but the anxiety symtoms have not ceased just subsided. i still have ants and butterflys and jumpy legs ive knitted a thousand things cause i cant keep my hands from going at the same time my legs are bouncing around. im wondering if this is what it feels like to be on ice. i also have this extreme new sensitivity to sunlight.

there is a positive side too. ever since i started it( i also started namenda at the same time and stopped that too.) ive had no trouble waking up early in the morning which was like trying to wake the dead before. i certianly feel more alert.
