A few weeks back I went to see a Homeopath, he mentioned that the amalgam/mercury fillings in my teeth could be playing a roll in causing my dp/dr. I found that I was having epsisodes of dr after eating or drinking something hot, smoking even. He said it could be the fact that the fillings are releasing mercury vapours and causing the confusion etc. I've looked it up on the internet and there seems to be quite a lot of stories relating to it and that people who have had them out feel a lot better.

I thought about it and just past it by thinking it was a load of old collywobbles. I went to the dentist the other day for another amalgam filling, I've been feeling ill since. Could this just be in my head that its the fillings? I dont know? I'd be interested to know how many people on here experiencing dr/dp have amalgam fillings?

I saw the same sites.Its possible for the milder form of dp,but not the major dp associated with anxiety and depression.I have mercury fillings and had them for a long time before the dp kicked off in a big way,so Id advise you not to waste your time.otherwise,new evidence will break next week about mobile phone radiation linked to dp;saturated fat and dp;driving long distances and dp;flying regularly and dp;smoking cigarettes and dp;fluroide and dp;toothpaste and dp;single life and dp;married life and dp;divorce and dp.And when you run out of dp bandwagons,youll be so used to looking for one,youll invent one.

Ha, ain't that the truth. Breathing Oxygen seems to be the major cause of DR/DP. If we stopped doing it, I'm sure that all our problems would be solved.

As the wise old sage Widescreened said, it is 'possible' that mercury fillings can have detrimental effects on your mental health, but I doubt it's a major trigger for chronic DR/DP. And besides, I'd take anything a homeopath says with a gigantic pinch of salt. Homeopathic medicine is the biggest scam of the century. Pay $xxx dollars to get a sugar pill ? No thanks, you might as well flush it straight down the toilet. And that's not being narrow-minded, it's just plain fact. Yes, the theory of homeopathy appeals to our latent asian/spiritual cleansing leanings, the same as Astrology, but it's bullshit all the same. Utter utter utter utter utter utter utter bullshit, and it's a crime that people fall for it.

I've have now come to the conclusion that it must have been the wanking too much that has caused the dp

I had my amalgams out. I felt a little better. I don't think it was a placebo effect because it seems to have been a permanent improvement. But it was only a small improvement. Though I might not have had very many fillings.
