went to see the gp the over day for more meds, when i was there i asked if i could drink alcohol as i hadnt had a drink since starting it. i was told it would be fine, so last night i had a big bottle of wicked and i am relly regreting it, my dp was much worse this morning, i cried for 2 hours constantly, and had a major league panic attack, my advice to anyone if you do have a drink while on meds keep it in preportion

Just as a side note, Paxil had me craving alcohol whilst I was on it. No explaination of why but the cravings stopped after the medication ceased.

as someone who still enjoys a drink on meds, there are things to consider

drink in moderation, you will eventually know your limits...but having said that when i took my first few drinks while taking meds the reason it caused me to panic was due to me working myself up into a ball of anxiety as to whether i should be doing this,so it was the anticipatory anxiety that caused me to panic and get anxious and not the alcohol itself....a few drinks wont harm you

Yeah, when he said it would be ok to drink I don't think he meant a big 'ole bottle :) . I brought up the point to my therapist that my psychiatrist said it was ok to drink. He was like does he know how much a few drinks is to you? I don't think so. Of course... I would never tell my psychiatrist cuz he'd take my benzos away. But I've cooled down a bit. I'm counting my shots and what not, trying to drink responsibly.

I was passed out last night before I could drink thank god. But now I'm contemplating it, there's this big bottle of tequila calling me (not really, I'm not schizo yet people). But it sucks cuz I'm still trying to do this diet thing and I'm failing miserably with the alcohol part.

Well anyways, I hope you are feeling better dreamcatcher.

and the reason diets fail while drinking alcohol is for the fact that

alcohol is a fuel, and the body will use alcohol before it uses your fat cells for fuel

Two pints and that's about it. I know my limit from experience (next day trauma). Just enough to relax me and make the evening bearable.

Does anybody else have problems drinking in moderation with DP? If I have a couple of beers and stop and try to go on with the rest of the evening, my DP gets horrible. I guess it is because alcohol creates anxiety as it leaves your system. If I was to only drink a few beers, it would have to be right before going to bed.

I have no problem not drinking during the week but on the weekend, I usually pick one night to get smashed. Yeah, my DP is worse the next day but I can at least go out, have fun, and feel alive for a while.

With all of the antidepressants, I always feel a little unstable the next day. Mixing Provigil and alcohol is a disaster. I shoudn't have done this, but I gave some of my friends some Provigil one evening. The next day, everybody laid in bed until 4 in the afternoon, feeling fatigued, and dubbed Provigil "death pills." Provigil is fun while you are on it, since it is basically speed, but it makes you feel like crap coming down.

these are the perils
if you are going to drink at home, just take your time, dont get hammered and stay awake, the day can be quite dp free and enjoyable if you just sip away at a tube of lager......i dont ever reccommend getting hammered but we all fall off the wagon when we are feeling real for once in our misserable lives.....
im certainly not reccomending alcohol, but also im not going to sit indoors on a weekend taking all of my herbal pills,my omega 3s'my b-vitamins,reading my books on nervous illnesses and checking myself for every twinge or strange vision...lifes too short, sure we are suffering but so is everone
