hey, ive had dp/dr for about 4 years, recently over the last 2 years ive been really into going out clubbing the normal 19 year old sorta thing. When i go out i bringe drink heavly, it makes my symtoms stop beacsue i forget about them soo much... but i do feel worse for a couple days after going out. People say little jokes about me being an alchy but its nothing like that .. i just like going out and aving fun for once and feeling like everyone else, and obviousely this dunt make sense to people with out dp/dr soo i dont bother explaining why i like it soo much. So basically all im asking is, can alchol make it worse? should i go easy on the drinking? .. also does anyone else get any of these sleep problems; sleep paralysis, rls syndrom, lucid dreams, obe's, sleep apena.. i get all of em and im sure its something to do with dp/dr.. my cause of dp/dr is cannabis induced, and i feel this illness should deff be more know about, id never think pot could do anything and have met quit a few people with dp/dr caused by weed, its not fair to let kids grow up with the risk and them not aving a clue.

I would advise you to slow down on the drinking. I am 25 years old. When I was your age I was partying as much, if not more than you. I partied soooo hard in college. From age 18/19-age 23 I partied big time! My junior and senior year in college I went out binge drinking 3-4 times a week. And honestly, I think it killed me. At the time, my DP was starting to effect me, but I would just drink to hide it and fight off the way it made me feel the next day. There were times where the next couple days after drinking were HORRIBLE, but I still drank and covered it up. And I regret that. But it is hard to think responsibly when in college and everyone else is partying it up!

But, my honest opinion would be to slow down. Keep it minimal. I know it is hard. But you don't have to get TOTALLY smashed all the time. Just be careful and know that it more than likely is not helping you and may make things worse in the future.

after i drink, it makes makes me more out of touch with reality with is pretty obviouse, as it does that to everyone.. but as i have dr it makes me feel alot more spaced out, if that is possible :D. cheers for the advise kelson and i am gonna try and keep it to one night at the weekend and not get wasted, altho i know when i a bit drunk ill go into the mind frame of not gving a fuck about anything and get really drunk, its a difficult time of ya life to have dp/dr, all my mates are always going out and i usally meet up with friends in the pub to socialise. I also made the mistake of starting to take pills after about 2 years of having it, and then slowly got dp, cus b4 that i only really felt dr... big big mistake, oh yeah and does any one else get when there tired if they lean back of close ya eyes ya head spins from side to side sort of .. i cant really explain it but its quite strange but not panicy, and my dr seems worse when the weather is overcast anyone get that?? thanks for replys guys
