When dp gets really bad at night, and you know nobody is awake to talk to, what do you do to alleviate your symptoms (besides drugs). Does everyone notice that the more you try not to think about it, the worse it gets? That is the evil of this disorder. I hate being awake alone at night and not being familiar to myself. It's almost like you are running from a stranger, which unfortunately is yourself.

Try listening to music.

I have anxiety as well which doesn't help.

I think I'm going to have a rough night tonight - my head is a mess, reeling with thoughts and feelings. Going to read, and although it might sound silly I might actually try and have a cry. Apparently it helps.

Night time just before im trying to go to lala land is one of my worst times. I now have been just saying to myself this is dp/dr and trying to go to sleep anyway. Not adding any impending doom thoughts help! When really bad i write. I also sometimes read or do find word puzzles or code word puzzles. Find word the best as you dont have to think and it makes me tied.I also have the radio on at a low level. Also i do a systematic relaxing of all of my body.I have to keep doing it particully my jaw.It seems to help if i focus on relaxing.Hope that helps some.
