I have found it wierd, that the people I know around here that have all had DP, also have Attention Defecit Disorder, as do I, do you think there is any connection with ADD & DP/DR, who all here is ADD?

that is pretty wierd... Although i haven't been diagnosed with ADD all through high school i never concentrated in class and everyone thought i had add, also so did I. I have trouble listening to what teachers say, i mean they will say it but its like my mind doesn't want to listen like its off in la la land thinkin about some other stuff

people confuse add with adhd. thats where the trouble is they think.. well im not a little boy running around like a crack head so i must not be add. classic add means you zone out alot.. dont hear what people are telling you. the way it is for me is like charlie browns teacher.. people sound like "woouh woouh woouh". i have to tell people all the time to repeat themselves cause i cant concentrate on what they are saying. its like being on acid in a way. theres just too much going on in your head and you cant make heads or tails of it. its like this big huge mess.. a ball of twine all tangled up and you dont know where to begin or even how to begin. constant static. it can be physically draining to the point where youre physically tired all the time because of the mental chaos. that is me. im so drained all the time. personally i think dp/dr is a biproduct of mental illness but only becomes a major issue if you have obsessive disorder.

I think by definition all low functioning DP/DR suffers have ADD, because when these symptoms are severe, you simply cannot concentrate.

I have a long history of severe tiredness/mild depression, light sensitivity, fuzzy 2d vision, dizziness, poor concentration and complete 'brain freeze' in situations where there is artificial (flouro) lighting. Surprisingly these symptoms are related to a type or dyslexia called Irlen Syndrome.

One shrink I went to thought I might have ADD, but given my history and the fact that all my symptoms got 10 time worse after taking medication I was beginning to suspect that my problems where DP/DR related. The same shrink was positive that derealization was caused by 'overbreathing' ( I didn't take too much notice of what she had to say).

When my massive DP/DR episode came on a couple of years ago, fluorescent lights would literally incapacitate me. I felt like I would lose consciousness and often have a kind of confusion/disorientation attack at the same time, in addition to tripping like I was on acid.

I've been working with Holosync type binaural sounds for just over a year now and gradually my perceptions are becoming clearer. I've gone from being hospitalization style sick, to being a low functioning (healthier, happier) version of my former self with greatly increased awareness....so yes, I have ADD and dyslexia but I also have mild DP/DR. Either way, these disorders can involve 'concentrational' dysfunction so they're probably one in the same.

Btw, I would like to know if any other low functioning DP/DRers out there suffer from 'Irlen Syndrome'?
