Iv been confused by this lately. I always thought and want to believe this was just a symptom of anxiety because it sounds much beatable and also that’s what most people say it is. But iv been seeing on sites that the symptom is if it lasts for a few minutes and the disorder is if it lasts me months. I don’t know if anyone really knows. I got out twice so I feel like it has to be a symptom ? Idk

I think its safe to say its anxiety for you, or at least your brain acting in defense mode due to it thinking its in danger. I know with my self, I've never had a time that I've had DP\DR that I didn't have anxiety. People think of anxiety as being a state of being fearful and that its really obvious, its not.. It can become ingrained in you subconsciously and apart of your personality, so much so that you might not even realize how anxious you really are.

I think that's one of the reasons I have DP. My body was subconsciously anxious and I barely noticed it. My brain finally said, "I've had enough, im out of here" and depersonilized. I just hope that I can break that anxious state and get back to living a normal life...

How do we stop the anxiety if we don’t even realize we have it? So it’s “normal” to have anxiety symptom that is constant 24/7 for a long period of time without it being a disorder ?

If anxiety is daily its called generalized anxiety disorder
You will notice if you stop during the day and check how you are feeling , ther is a chance you are anxious without even thinking that you are .
Such as your thoughts are fast or you are breathing shallow
When i feel good I stop and notice that I'm in fact slightly hyperventilating , that's part of have gad
I was completely anxiety free between ages 20 to 24 you know the difference whrn anxiety starts to creep in
