Hey Jen, no I don't have this, but I would just take in all of this new information slowly. You have a diagnosis now, which is a very positive step. Now you will gather the tools to deal with this issue... I assume you were diagnosed by a neurologist?

I don't follow from your post whether or not your diagnosis is of a form of epilepsy, you have not indicated that. I'd just like to say to put this out there that my best friend of 13 years has temporal lobe epilepsy and nobody would ever know, I forget about it myself all the time. He takes medication and has no problems.

There's no reason to fear. You have a diagnosis which is extremely positive. I remember the first time I searched through the DSM-V and came across the entry for Depersonalization Disorder 8 years ago. A weight was immediately lifted from me.

Good luck. Let us know the more you find out.

has anyone else been diagnosed with temporal lobe dysfunction???

i can't find any articles/ research on the net and that scares me.
not so rare Jen, nothing to be scared of. One of the board members that I haven't seen on here in a while (homeskooled) went to the Amen clinic for a SPECT scan and was diagnosed with temporal and parietal lobes dysfunction. He was put on anticonvulsants (lamictal I think) and it cured his DP relatively fast.

It's quite awesome that you at least know which part of your brain needs to be medicated. -ru

What is a SPECT scan? How do I find out what's wrong with my brain? A neurologist? Should I have my psychiatrist give me a PET scan? I asked him for one once and he was like well what if we find.... (something about my temporal lobes I forget his wording)? And he answered himself saying basically that he'd just give me the same meds he is now.
