Hi,

How many people here have tried a combo of 5htp and vitamin b6? If so, what are your results. Ive tried both individually and they had no effect whatsoever. Together, at least for me, they are an amazing combo for anxiety and depression. For me it seems to work even better than taking SJW. Im sort of confused because they claim you shouldnt take them together being the 5htp will convert to serotonin before it gets a chance to cross the bbb.

5htp (5-hydroxytryptophan)is a direct precursor to serotonin. They claim it definitely crosses the bbb. vitamin b6 is used in the synthesis from 5htp to serotonin. Unfortunately this conversion only takes place in the brain. Any converted serotonin in the blood will not be "allowed" to cross over. Thats why they claim you shouldnt take them together. Ive read you should take them at least 3 hours apart. You also have to space it at least 2 hours from high protein meals so it doesnt have too much competition in the blood.

Ive read that eating a diet high in complex carbs helps boost the supplement. Carbs cause a release of insulin and clear the blood stream except for the resistant tryptophan which goes directly to the brain.

All I know is the shit works.

B6 works on the adrenals and it takes alot of time to really work or have a noticeable effect. I take that as well at 5htp and Vitamin b12 and niacin. I started taking these things for benzo withdrawal, which destroyed my adrenals and my ability to calm down and am seeing amazing results 2 months later. I can now go out again and calm down and read and do everything I could before. I think these things are great for the anxious person. Warning though, they are no quick fix and improvements may take a few months to see when going the nautral route.
