I have emotional anesthesia quite a lot. I have no answers but I know that my insomina makes the numbness worse. You may need to give your self more time to heal before you can feel your emotions again. Sorry, not much help.

i know i used to live and thrive on nostalgia. i think, however (given the value you are putting on it), nostalgia might have been a little TOO prevalent in your sense of self, even before the pot. Sometimes we spend a little too much time in nostalgia to avoid having new experiences, and when our sense of nostalgia is inaccessible we have little choice but to start experiencing new things and forgetting about the past, just for a little bit.

i once read that someone decided that their nostalgia was a subtle form of self pity, since it entails a bit of fantasy and "back then" and "if only"..etc..it's not focused on the present moment, therefore it's a lack of acceptance of current reality, therefore it's kind of a weird self pity thing. it may not SEEM like this big negative thing (especially since your nostalgia revolves around grandma's house and such), but sometimes it can be when that's ALL you're really interested in.

(at least that was the case for me...i was ALL about nostalgia and little about reality)

I think its very human to go through that kind of loss, what you describe as a loss of nostalgic feeling. I think it's a part of growing up. You have some sort of expectation of a comforting feeling, tranquility, that just isn't coming. You're blaming your mind, or your experience with DP/DR, but perhaps... it just is what it is.

Nostalgia is not an emotion. You're trying to "feel" back into your past, and something's missing. Your brain is now telling you, "so what, it's a house like a million other houses, what do I care, " right? I wouldn't worry about it. Just move on and look forward, and try to locate your feelings in the present, in whatever you are experiencing right now.

Congratulations on your recovery, that's fantastic.
