#368466 DP/DR and lack of coordination

Posted by Death By Dreaming on 02 April 2016 - 02:41 PM

This is incredibly common on my really bad days, and I was curious if others experience this with derealization and depersonalization as well.

#361235 Strangeness Triggering DP/DR

Yeah, I've definitely noticed this. Commercials, like you said, are especially triggering for me.

It can be anything, and it doesn't have to be DP/DR related either. Photography, drawings, writing, songs; anything you've made that you feel like sharing here!  ;)

To start, I'll go ahead and post this song I made on the piano earlier today:

#358343 So I wrote a poem

Posted by Death By Dreaming on 02 October 2015 - 08:56 PM

Do you guys like it?

my hands are liquid
dripping down onto
the ends of my shirt

and my eyes are
obscured by a glass veil
fastened tightly to my face
with a pair of screws

and my feet
don't touch the ground
when i walk

they force me to carry weights
and strain myself to see
and walk a thousand miles a day
for they do not understand how

inside i am screaming
for the kind of burning pain
that would make me feel
alive/but the anesthetics are too strong

wake up
    wake up
         wake up.

the diagnosis
is a sickness of the soul
scribbled into the back of my journal

but the doctors said

[there is no such thing]

gave me pills for my mind
and then left before i could tell them

i can't control my body
well enough to

#355358 Fictophilia... have you heard of it?

Posted by Death By Dreaming on 31 July 2015 - 08:24 PM

Not sure how much this might have to do with DPDR, but I figured I'd put it here since the other off topic boards are just... too deserted.

Fictophilia is not a recognized condition; the term was made up on the internet. However, it's a real thing that many people suffer from (including myself.) It's when you fall in love with fictional characters, often just as hard as you would fall in love with a real person, as well as experience sexual attraction. Because you can't be with them, you can suffer from heartbreak, depression, and other such conditions. And the problem here is that when you try to reach out, people will usually just laugh and say "you're too obsessed!", which is certainly not the case if you're crying yourself to sleep over this. These kinds of reactions just make it that much harder for us to find genuine advice from people, and it can be really disheartening.

Has anyone here ever had something like this? Could it have something to do with DPDR? Please post your opinions...

#354565 Childhood?

Posted by Death By Dreaming on 13 July 2015 - 05:53 PM

I had DR a lot as a kid. For a while, I thought it was completely normal, and that everyone felt like that, so I never brought it up. It was always worst when I was in a new place, especially in airports. A lot of the time, I actually thought it was cool, feeling like that, but sometimes, I would get panicky over it, like I was dreaming everything up and would awake any second. Days I felt like that, I was scared because I thought that since everyone else must've felt like that, I was some weirdo, someone who couldn't handle the "normal" state of mind. Finding out it was DR was a huge relief, because I realized it was an actual condition that people struggled with, and there was nothing wrong with me for fearing it.

#353161 Does DP feel like a Trap to anyone?

Posted by Death By Dreaming on 02 June 2015 - 10:00 PM

I get this a lot... sometimes it causes me some pretty hardcore panic, knowing I can't "get out". :/

#352598 Are we all experiencing this symptom? Please chime in..

Well, I get this, at least. Not sure about everyone else.
