I am a cognitive neuroscientist with expertise in Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Neurology, Neuroanatomy, Psychophysiology, and Experimental Psychology. I have research interests in the neuroscience of visual awareness and consciousness. More specifically, visual and multi-sensory hallucinations, aberrant brain processes underlying anomalous experiences of the self, delusions and false beliefs. I have published widely on a variety of topics and run my own academic research laboratory.
Topic areas of interest include; depersonalization / derealization, dissociation, disembodiment, out-of-body experiences, near-death experiences, anomalous bodily experiences, disorders of embodiment, interoceptive awareness, cortical hyperexcitability, perspective-taking, sensed-presence hallucinations (apparitions), anomalous cognition and consciousness, migraine with aura, epilepsy, migralepsy, etc.
I am always interested in hearing about what people experience with these conditions. However, please note I am not a medic and not a Psychiatrist and cannot give advice about medication / treatment.
My hobbies include, landscape photography, learning the electric guitar, wing-chun kung fu, and western boxing.
