In Topic: 6 Things I wish I did while I had DP

Because you are telling people the way to recover is to do things to distract yourself like watching TV and getting a job. Being constantly occupied. What have you done for emotional work? I mean I used to go around saying I was recovered when I saw improvement, but i still had a huge lack of emotion.

Not everything is an emotional problem.

In Topic: What happened when you first got full blown dp?

25 October 2013 - 04:02 AM

It's interesting how the demographic of this site has changed. It seems that the majority of dp cases now are not drug induced or facilitated. A few years ago, nearly all users had a drug related event that started it all.

I was going to mention Claire Weekes, but I see she has already been referenced. Her book was truly revolutionary when it came out. Instead, I'll suggest "The Instinct To Heal" by David Servan-Schreiber.
He is a psychiatrist/neuroscientist. His book explores some interesting alternative methods outside of the mainstream.
There is another book called "The Sensitive Person" (?) or something like that, which I hope to read soon.

I'm not going to be active any longer, but I'm now dp free. I have been so for the past 2 years. I had some come back after tapering off of lexapro, but it has since subsided again.
