#359113 Looks like casual sex is not a solution

Posted by MissK on 21 October 2015 - 02:21 PM

Maybe you no longer enjoy the causal thing because your body is rejecting it. I think many people feel like that whether they have DP or not.

I think there comes a point for most people when they become less interested in the whole chase and conquer thing and they'd rather develop an emotional, spiritual, intellectual bond with someone before getting intimate.

Meaningless sex can make many people feel empty, because its an intimate act and you wouldn't just want to share that energy with just anybody, maybe your awareness about sex is deepening and if things arent right, right now, it doesnt mean they never will be, you may just need to put in more work in that area.

#353636 University with DP?

Posted by MissK on 13 June 2015 - 02:27 PM

I moved away for University at around the time my dp was the most intense, Im not going to lie, it was extremely tough at times, and i had many many down days and wanted to drop out on many occasions. I then started to learn to manage and control both my anxiety and dp/dr.

I used the frustration in me to better my work and used that as a good distraction, i was also quite passionate about my degree subjects which was helpful.

The sense of responsibility helped too, as i used my time to also work on improving my mental state, and sometimes a change of scenery is good for that. The university lifestyle also forces you to be more sociable, which is good in overcoming the need to spend alot of time alone, which i did before i went to University.

I completed my degree while having dp all throughout my university years and the sense of accomplishment was amazing!

I hope you stick it out, but make sure to always give yourself the time you need to process all the changes and take advantage of what the university offers, as they may be able to assist you along the way. My university knew about my dp and anxiety and i received CBT and mindfulness sessions, which were incredibly helpful.

Good luck

#331595 My online magazine on DP/DR

Posted by MissK on 03 May 2014 - 04:18 PM

Thank you, and no i did not lift anything from your website, as everything i used is referenced from books.

As it is for university i would have an issue with plagiarism if i directly lifted anything from the internet.

I did not have to give credit as i contacted the authors for approval beforehand and i have given credit in areas which i felt i needed to, as it is a university project all my major references and citations are in the written piece i submit with the magazine.

Hey i made an online magazine on DP/DR for a university project,

the magazine is primarily to raise awareness so it doesnt really come up with any answers but just discusses DP.

Let me know what you think :)

Posted by MissK on 08 February 2013 - 10:07 PM

Hey I'm in my second year at University, i find dp has also affected my memory, but i try my best to stay focused and what i think helps the most is that i have an interest the field I'm studying, so its not that i should concentrate but because i like the subject and want to concentrate, and yeah i do also find exercise helps.

#268171 Do you find it hard to talk to people face to face?

Posted by MissK on 09 October 2012 - 10:22 AM

I can talk to people face to face naturally unless i stop and think for abit, then my mind wonders and makes me think about how unnatural i feel talking to people.

But if i dont over think it, its ok.
