The more courage one develops to confront and tolerate one's emotions--fears, even baseless ones, false threats of catastrophe, fear of rejection, fear of isolation, feelings of insecurity, feelings of guilt, fear of joy and pleasant things, distress of insecurity, hopelessness and despair, sense of futility and failure.......the list goes on and on.  All these emotions and feelings need to appear and disappear on the screen of the mind with the self courageous enough to watch them, feel them, endure them, ignore some of them as baseless, nourish and strengthen positive is a lifelong project, this fight against dp.  All the best.

This is the experience of depersonalization. Like you millions of others all over the world are experiencing it, some of them for decades.  The ability of the human being is  that one can endure even the nearly impossible situations.  Some even triumph over such catastrophic state of the self. Go through the experiences of others. You are not alone.  Life is more than depersonalization, however horrible an experience it is! As poet Hopkins has said, "Hold them cheap who never hung there"

One's bored, unreal self is the only self one has for the moment.  No use running away from this self which looks so fragile, foggy, unreal. One can only move forward only from this ground reality of unreality and boredom.  It is something that is there, real, one's sad reality which has to be accepted and lived.  This acceptance of the vague, bored feeling of one's self is the starting point of a long journey towards a solid, pleasant, hopeful, enjoyable feeling of one's self.

After the passage of a year I am all the more convinced that feelings and emotions are the keys to recovery from dp/dr. Feelings put us in touch with our bodies, our selves, other people and the world.
