I dont know what type of pshchiatrist you have but you should probably search for a psychiatrist that specializes in dissociative disorders and trauma. They seem to understand these things better than other psychiatrists/therapists. You may also want to look for one that specializes in obsessive compulsive disorder. Dpdr tends to make the sufferer become obsessed with how strange they feel and how unreal everything is. Its also normal for dpdr to make you think delusionally. Its all you think about day and night and i can only imagine how hard that must be while also being married and having children. This obsessive thinking is the same thing people with ocd experiance except with other things. The anxiety is crippling and i understand your fear. Its hard to break it but its possible.

My advice is to first work out if your having hallucinations or not. You can tell if it is a hallucination if it sounds like the sound is coming from your surroundings rather than your head. It can sound like a real noise. I have hallucinated my mother calling my name from accross the room and ask her what only to find she never said anything. Ive even heard just strange repetitive noises but i only get these when very tired and very stressed. Sometimes, you can hear very loud noises, voices, or music in your head and these are normal, though it can be pretty distressing if its constant and/or new to you. But if these sounds sound more like its outside, like its next to you, behind you or from a different room, then its something you may want to speak to a doctor about. But keep in mind that even a perfectly mentally healthy individual can have hallucinations when under extreme stress or for other reasons and doesnt mean the person is developing anything like schizophrenia so try not to panic.

Someone recently suggestly a phenomenon to me known as hypnogogia that happens when an individual is tired or exhausted, espessially if someone sleep deprived and you said the sounds are things people have said earlier in the day and it could hypnogic hallucinations.

Ive experianced alot of those things too. This may sound almost too simple to work at first but have you tried grounding exersizes and/or meditation? Those things really helped me reduce my anxiety and help me get over my panic attacks faster. Recently i only really get panicky at nighttime cause these things helped me figure out how to switch it off. Im too sensitive to meds, some even make my anxiety worse.

Wow i think your right. I read the whole artical and i experiance most of those things before sleeping. Maybe im unintentionally inducing hypnogogia because i stay awake untill i cant keep my eyes open most nights...

Yeah everything kinda gets distorted when panic sets in. For me, i get a freezing feeling as well that makes it seem like time has stopped or that im in the process of dying right then and there, its awful and its never something you ever really get used to feeling sadly...
