in my experience, you don't manage to get anywhere.. you just live your life and slowly push the negative thoughts of "this isn't real" and "i'm not myself" out of your head... they may linger with you but it is a process of changing your thoughts that leads to real freedom

for me, it has been celexa... it worked for family members of mine, and I think that is a connection which explains why it has worked well for me! maybe ask your family if they have taken medication, and if so, what kind?

you can look up tons of examples of people who have gone psychotic.. they aren't like you! they aren't seeking help, they aren't posting on this forum in a rational manner... the fact that you are  here and communicating intelligently with people is a great sign that you aren't psychotic.

substance abuse is a huge part of what causes this... in the end it is about addressing your root mental problems, rather than the symptom of DP/DR

sometimes all that you need is another voice telling you everything is alright. which, it is...

yeah, we're all real. that's something you knew for a long time and will have to learn to re-accept. once you do, life becomes SO much better
