In Topic: Hey Everyone, I'm Kallie

Hey, Kallie! Like the others, I can also relate to what you're going through. You're not alone! What you're going through is hard, but don't give up! If you or anyone else reading this needs someone to vent to or just wants to chat about anything to get your mind off things, I'd be glad to listen.  :)

Sounds to me like your head needs a break! First of all, reassure yourself that everything will be okay. Take some deep breaths. I know it's hard when you begin to lose hope. It's so hard. Especially when a depression sets in. That's been my life the past few weeks but you can't give up and give in. Trust me, it gets better! I know it will. All you have to do is keep going, and keep taking little steps to improve your life.

My advice for you would be to make some time for self care. You deserve it! Everyone feeling symptoms of DP deserves it. Exercise, meditate, be social (with good people/friends that care about you), distract yourself with a new hobby, etc. Do some yoga and start a gratitude journal. All of these things have helped me immensely and I KNOW they would help you feel better too! Once you start taking action and find things that calm you and bring you happiness, you can break the feelings of hopelessness. I would often times find myself falling into a depression and once I was aware I was getting depressed, I would get even more depressed. It's a vicious cycle but it can most definitely be stopped with a little adjustments to your lifestyle.

You're stronger than you know, Kallie. Keep going, keep your head up, and don't give up! Like I said before, we're here for you to lean on and you're not alone. We're all in this together!

Stay positive,

Hang in there, Recav25! I know how it feels, but you can't let it get to you. You got this. Along with your therapy and medication, work on controlling your fears and your thoughts. What are you really scared of? Fear is not real. It is a feeling caused by thoughts that are often times not true. Don't let your fears tear you apart. I can guarantee you that you are okay and you will get better. All DP is, and I know it seems much worse than it really is, is a symptom of unhealthy thought patterns. It's such a terrible feeling but I PROMISE you that this is not forever. This will pass and one day you won't remember what it felt like at all.

One of the most important parts of getting over DP is relaxation. Your brain is in overdrive coming up with fears and anxiety, right? That's how it was for me. Practice relaxation. It may sound dumb, but try meditation or even yoga. The first time I tried yoga (I just followed a youtube video) I felt so stupid at first but you know what? Who cares. It's so good for your head. Along with meditation, it calms you way down and helps get over negative feelings. In fact, it makes you feel pretty great. Cute girls in yoga pants are always a plus too! (unless you're not into girls... thats awkward)

‚ÄčAnother big thing you may benefit from is expose. Face your fears and they won't be scary anymore. The more you hide away and let your fears win the harder it will be to overcome them. Scared of going out in public or socializing? Go do it. Even if it makes you feel terrible. It helps. I believe in you. Don't give up.
