hello i already posted about this but i’m just really scared and want some reassurance. basically what i’m feeling is everything around me feeling unfamiliar, my memories even recent ones seeming distant or not mine at all, i’m having trouble with memory in general, my vision seems to be distorted and everything seems more dark and yellow? and i’m seeing a lot of floaters. i’m having existential thoughts but that seems to be the least of it... my anxiety is through the roof, i feel like i can’t be alone or anywhere other than the house (which is scary in its own since everything including my house feels unfamiliar) or i will completely lose myself or my grip on reality, it’s really terrifying my symptoms only get worse with each day and i’m scared of getting stuck like this

Hi Bleau,

Sorry you are feeling so alone! Is there anything in your house that can ground you a little? Is there anything you can do to distract yourself? Taking a hot bath is always a nice way to get out of your head. You need to distract yourself and pay attention to your surroundings. I think grounding exercises might be best for you right now, like I said try to distract yourself and while you do that act please pay attention to the colors that you see and how things feel on your skin in addition what things smell like. Another good trick for anxiety is to fill your bathtub up with cold water about half way and hold you breathe and dunk your head in the water while you hold your breathe for 20-30 seconds, when you do this it may alleviate some anxiety and induce a calming sensation. Let me know how it works.

Thanks,

Zach

That sounds like pretty classic derealization. Like you've been dropped onto another world and for some reason its 1000x more dangerous than your old one and you're constantly wondering if you're going crazy. Ever since I got dr, memories feel more like fever dreams to me. Once I'm done doing something, it feels like it didnt happen. My only advice to you, and I know this is HARD, to engage in society as much as possible. Don't isolate yourself and don't sit in your house or it will only get worse.

thank you, this is the kind of reassurance i needed. it makes me feel less like i’m going crazy. things aren’t easy and aren’t getting any easier but i’m trying my best to stay calm/grounded.

Bump, it’s a bit hard to interact with society because of quarantine.. Oh well, I hope everyone in this thread has been cured of this.
