Having this disorder for 10 years was worse than my best friend killing himself.

I relate very much. Now I am doing better, but in general I would make a similar comparison. I lost my best friend in a car accident, I cried for a month, I took a year to recover and still it wasn't as bad as my DPDR. And I hate it that so few people understand. A (ex)friend of mine, who even studied psychology, told me bluntly that I don't have anything, I just read the symptoms somewhere online and thought I had it.

Wow I relate to that so much. I mean I would say your situation mightâve been worse considering your friend actually studied psychology and didnât understand, but I mean in my opinion thatâs on him for being pretty insensitive towards you. But I keep telling my parents and friends that this thing I feel is 100% dpdr, every single symptom is spot on. Their response is always âyour such a hypochondriacâ or âeverything you read on the internet doesnât apply to youâ. It sucks having people constantly undermine your feelings, when in reality they have no idea what Iâm going through. Glad this forum exists so you donât feel as lonely.
